George Dedes was born in Corinth. He is a Civil Engineer, graduate of the Polytechnic School of the University of Patras. He was a freelancer since 1991, mainly involved with design, supervision, and construction of private works, initially in Patras and later in Corinth, where he lives. During his studies he specialized in Town Planning and Restructuring, and he took part in post graduate research projects of the University of Patras on issues of Physical Planning and Regional Development.
He has been participating in the new government’s work since March 2015 as Secretary - General for Infrastructure at the Ministry of Economy, Infrastructure, Shipping and Tourism.
He was elected Vice Head of Region in Corinth at the first Regional Elections in 2010. He was the Head of the Elections List of the Party “Democratic Peloponnesian Cooperation” at the last Regional Elections in 2014 and was elected Regional Advisor.

He is a member of the Technical Chamber of Greece and of the Greek Association of Civil Engineers. He participated in the committee of occupational issues and young engineers of the Technical Chamber of Western Greece. He was member of the BoD of the Association of Engineers and Petty Engineers of Corinth Prefecture and was elected member of the delegation of the Technical Chamber of the Peloponnese for three successive times.

As a student he was actively involved in the bodies fo the democratic university movement. He was one of the founders and president of the Student Union fo Civil Engineers of Patras, a founder and president of the Student Union of the University of Patras, a member of the Central Board of the National Student Union of Greece, an elected representative of Patras Students at the Senate and the Rector’s Council of the University.
In the context of his social and administrative activities he was a member of the BoD of the Hospital of Corinth and a special scientific partner of the Secretary- General of the Region of the Peloponnese in 2009-2010. He was elected twice Prefectural Councillor of the Local Government of Corinth.
